ORGANICS
The term “Organic” refers not to the food itself, but to how it is produced.
Organic foods are produced according to defined production standards without the use of conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizers, human waste, or sewage sludge, and processed without ionizing radiation or food additives.
Organic food production is legally regulated. Currently, the United States, the European Union, Japan and many other countries, require producers to obtain organic certification in order to market food as organic. Certification means that the consumer can be sure all organic products have been grown and processed according to strict regulated standards.
Western Commodities and Western Organic Commodity Services are registered with Organic Farmers & Growers; an independent third party organisation set up under the auspices of the United Kingdom Register of Organic Standards (UKROFS) and recognised by The Soil Association (SA). Ecocert, a universally recognised German based third party accreditation body, administer the majority of imports from outside the EU.
Western Commodities Ltd has been organically certified since 1998. Our production facility has been certified since its inception in 2002. We can dice, paste, pack, clean, inspect and reprocess all manner of organic nuts and dried fruits.
