Western Commodities are a registered importer of foodstuffs under the MAFF administered United Kingdom Register of Organic Foodstuffs and Ecocert, a universally recognised German based third party accreditation body, administer the majority of direct imports.

At our offices we hold certification for each and every lot of each commodity imported and sold. No Organic produce passes through the hands of Western Commodities without certifiable documentation from one of the above organisations. For reasons of commercial confidentiality we do not send these out as a matter of course with each delivery. However, we can issue certificates of conformance if required.

Our specialities are Organic Dates from Tunisia and Organic Apricots, Figs, Sultanas, Raisins, and Hazelnuts from Turkey. Call, fax or email for a full and up to date product listing with details of availability.

Our suppliers are not only audited and accredited by an official third party certification body, they are also audited by us as part of our systematic approach to Quality Assurance.

Our supplier in Turkey for Organic Apricots owns large tracks of land dedicated to Apricot production.

Our supplier in Tunisia has been in the Deglet Nour Date business for generations. Their own plantations produce the Organic Deglet Nour Dates the quality of which is unsurpassed by any other producer from the Djerid Oasis of the Tozeur region in Tunisia.

Both Organic Dates and Organic Apricots are imported directly and processed under OF & G certification standards at the UK processing plant about 4 miles from our offices in Devon.

Generally organic produce is shipped in ambient containers and stored in cool store on arrival. For some products we import in refrigerated containers and freeze after arrival as an added precaution to reduce the risk of the development of inherent vice.
